Odessa Balan's music is Tori Amos meets Blondi with a splash of Sarah McLaughlin. Her sexy, sultry lyrics tell a story that draws the listener in with the first few lines, while her melodies are catchy and harmonies beautiful. She is definitely a marketable commodity!

She began as a classical violinist, debuting at Carnegie Hall (New York) at age 16 as the concert master of the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra. She later joined New York Youth Orchestra and performed regularly in Carnegie Hall for two years.

She then attended Temple University and performed at the Academy of Music (Philadelphia) with their Orchestra. She graduated from Temple with a degree in Music Composition with a violin concentration (minor).

During her years at Temple University, she met legendary Jazz pianist, Dave Burrell. He took her under his wing, and they had performances at Chris' Jazz Cafe (Philadelphia), Jazz Clef Club (Philadelphia), Philadelphia Museum of Art, Manhattan Country School (New York), and private parties given by Angelika Saleh of Angelika Entertainment Corp. (New York). They also made a recording with jazz violinist John Blake and jazz bassist Tyrone Brown for International Public Radio's tribute to the music of Louis Armstrong.

At the same time, Odessa was writing music for Group Motion Modern Dance Company (the oldest modern dance company in Philadelphia) and performed with them at the Arts Bank (Philadelphia), University of Pennsylvania's Next Move Festival, the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), the Philadelphia Fringe Festival (1999, 2000 and 2001), as well as many performances at their own studios at the CEC (Philadelphia).

While she enjoys success in the contemporary classical and jazz styles of music, she couldn't ignore her love for pop music culture as well. So she got some of her musician friends together to form her adult contemporary rock group and had performances at Philadelphia Music Conference, University of Pennsylvania, The University of the Arts, Kimmel Center (Summer Solstice), Grape Street Pub (Philadelphia), La Taza (Philadelphia), as well as MANY coffee houses and bars in the Philadelphia area (and surrounding areas). Her music was also played on University of Pennsylvania’s Radio Station (88.5) and Public Television (channel 12 in PA).
